Old Yeller –

Speaking of dogs, my dog is just like Old Yeller.  Old Yeller is a story about a kid like me.  It’s another one of my favorite books.  Travis takes care of his family one summer on the Texas frontier.  Everything in it is real and wild.  Old Yeller fights pigs and a wolf and watches out for the family while their dad is away on a cattle drive.

Everybody cries when they read this book.  I did the first time.  The movie will make you cry again, which doesn’t sound like a fun thing to do but it is hard to stop sometimes.

Just about everything in the outdoors is better with a dog by your side.

I wish I was Travis with a ranch to look after.
